As Dumbledore says, ‘words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it.’
Harry Potter continues to be a source of magic and remedy for my soul, and I’m very grateful. Here are five of my favourite Dumbeldore quotes that sooth my heart and inspire me to go ON:
‘It does not do to dwell on dreams Harry, and forget to LIVE’.
‘Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love’.
‘Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?’
‘Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.’
‘Ah, music. A magic beyond all we do here!’
*BONUS! This exchange comes from my favourite scene of any film or television show. It’s the Limbo scene in Deathly Hallows - Part 2, where Harry is in between life and death. Dumbledore’s final line has helped to enliven me for many years:
‘HARRY: I have to go back, haven't I?
DUMBLEDORE: Oh, that's up to you.
HARRY: I have a choice?
DUMBLEDORE: Oh, yes! We're in King's Cross, you see. I think if you so decide, you'll be able to board a train.
HARRY: And where would it take me?
DUMBLEDORE: On.’
Do you have any favourite Harry Potter quotes? Perhaps another film/book/tv show resonates with you too. If so, do let me know!
Much love and lightness,
